The Axe Forgets; The Tree Remembers

It sounds idealistic, but there is more than a seed of truth in this quote. The thought deserves great consideration. Perhaps, within those words, is hope and guidance for the progress of humanity.
We will succeed only when we embrace brotherly love and practice empathy for our fellow man.
Sure, we can co-exist in division and othering, but that’s hardly healthy for the business of peaceful living, vigorous commerce and progressive government.
When we magnify our differences instead of illuminating our similarities, we do ourselves a disservice. Save for the degree of advantage we’ve inherited, each of us has the same needs, desires and motivations. We are all made of the same stuff: Flesh and blood - mere human beings.
If you wish to see positive change in our societal norms and improved government for the people, please step up to the plate in person. Act as a Servant Leader. Shine some light. Help show the way.
- Protect historical facts but do better than our ancestors did — Right whatever wrongs you can.
- Help remove systemic barriers established by our forefathers.
- Demand truth, honesty and transparency from governments.
- Stand up for what is humane and just.
- Defend gender and racial equality, pay equity and workplace standards. They should be every individual’s right.
- Practice stewardship of the land and environmental conservation.
- Treat every person you meet with the same level of respect that you’d give your own grandmother.
Get out there and find ways to create improvement. Use your voice. Do it with energy and sincerity. Understand and speak to the value of well-funded public education, school curricula based on facts without omission, single-payer (publicly funded) healthcare. Support a…
