Thank you for sharing, Jody. As we know, situations such as the one you describe were not uncommon during that era. Birth control was not available, particularly for teens and unmarried women. Females had to rely on males to responsibly use condoms. Yeh right, like that was going to happen.
Because of the shame our society and the Catholic church suffocated females with (and still do), not many shared their truth. It was a "secret" always left untold. An isolating, guilt-inducing, self-deprecating experience for many young women. Once through it, they had to live their adulthood wondering, worrying and hoping that they made the best decision they could at the time.
